In the years of turmoil in the DeKalb County School System, much has been heard from board members, accrediting agencies, state officials, lawmakers, business leaders and teacher representatives.
But every day, families make decisions about whether to keep their students in the system or not. Each family faces different circumstances, of course.
On Wednesday, March 27, interim DeKalb Superintendent Michael Thurmond heard from one of them. He had taken questions from two students at a forum sponsored by Leadership DeKalb and the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce.
One of the students, Kadeem Trimble, is a senior at Druid Hills High School. His parents, Arcella and Adika, were with him. Afterward, the family spoke with WABE’s Denis O’Hayer.
