Despite a dark and drizzly sky, the 44th running of the Peachtree Road race began without a hitch.

Wheelchair competitors were the first to navigate the 6.2-mile course which starts at Lenox Square Mall and ends at Piedmont Park.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Mosinet Geremew of Ethiopia won race with a time of 28:04. The women’s division winner, Lineth Chepkurui of Kenya, won her third Peachtree Road Race with a time of 32:07.

As might be expected because of the weather, neither time set a course record.

The wheelchair division winners were John Cassidy (21:14) and Manuela Schar (25:43).
