Young Thug’s RICO trial is underway.

The Grammy-award-winning rapper, whose real name is Jeffrey Lamar Williams, has remained in jail since May 2022.

On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Journalist George Chidi told program host Rose Scott that the Atlanta rapper is facing several charges connected to drug trafficking and weapons –but his primary charge is racketeering.

“If he is convicted, he could spend 20 years in jail on that charge alone,” said Chidi. “What the district attorney says is that Young Thug orchestrated a murder, amongst other things.”

Young Thug has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges he’s been charged with.

During the conversation, Chidi discussed the latest in the trial, including who is expected to be called as witnesses, along with plea deals made so far and the challenges of prosecuting the case due to the number of people involved.
