Your Guide to the 2018 Georgia Renaissance Festival

This year’s iteration of the Georgia Renaissance Festival – its 33rd in a row – will be packed to the brim with customizable experiences for visitors of all ages. Within the 32-acre 16th century English village you will find over 150 artisan craft shoppes, 10 entertainment stages, several food and drink vendors, and a host of medieval themed rides and games.
Here is everything you need to know about this year’s festival, which runs through June 3.
Shows, Games, and Experiences
For previous attendees looking for something new, there are two brand new daily events at the festival that are worth checking out. The Pub Crawl will happen twice daily and includes a pint at each of the festival’s three pubs, plus a souvenir beer tankard. The Fairy Tea Party is a new daily event that gives young visitors a chance to share lemonade and cake with some magical storytelling fairy hosts.
In addition to these new events, all the classic RenFest shows, games, and performances will be back this year. The epic Equus Maximus jousting show is always a festival favorite, with shows happening three times daily. The Barely Balanced Acrobatic Daredevils and the new London Broil juggling show are also ideal events for visitors looking to be amazed by unique skillful feats. There will be a variety of music and comedy shows scheduled each day as well. Every performance at the festival has at least three showings per day, so you’re guaranteed to catch everything you want to see.
If you’re in the mood for some interactive fun, there are three specific areas in the festival grounds with carnival games and rides that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
Artisan Market
The Georgia Renaissance Festival isn’t just fun and games, it’s educational too. This year’s artisan market will feature over 150 professional craftsmen offering daily demonstrations of weaving, coin minting, spinning, sculpting, glass blowing, leather crafting and many other medieval art forms.
As with the performances, each festival artisan will be offering demonstrations several times every day, so we recommend perusing the artist market and exploring whatever draws your interest. More information on each artist involved in the festival can be found here.
Food and Libations
No renaissance festival experience is complete without a massive turkey leg, and these 1 ½ pound smoked treats will be available in abundance this year. You’ll also find a variety of English pub fare like Fish & Chips and meat pies, plus classic festival grub like giant pretzels, fried pickles, and funnel cakes.
Adults can visit one of the festival pubs for domestic beer, imported ales and meads, a variety of wines, and margaritas.
Tickets, Directions, and Parking
There are a few ticket specials and promotions available online, including the Royal Experience for 2 package and an adult BOGO promotion for opening weekend. In general, we recommend purchasing tickets online ahead of time for a discounted rate.
The festival grounds are located just a quick drive down Iinterstate 85 in Fairburn, and parking is free for all guests. Detailed directions can be found here.
