Preparing For Freezing Temperatures, Metro Atlanta Schools Cancel Activities
In metro Atlanta, temperatures are expected to fall into the teens Tuesday night. According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday’s high will be around 29 degrees in Atlanta, and the low Wednesday night will be around 19 degrees.

Many metro Atlanta school districts are canceling after-school activities Tuesday. Temperatures in the area are expected to fall into the teens Tuesday night and remain below freezing until Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday’s high will be around 29 degrees in Atlanta, and the low Wednesday night will be around 19 degrees.
These are the school districts that have canceled after-school activities Tuesday:
- Atlanta Public Schools
- DeKalb County Schools
- Fulton County Schools
- Marietta City Schools
- Clayton County Schools
However, some schools have only canceled some extracurricular activities. For example, Gwinnett County Schools canceled activities past 8 p.m. Tuesday.
In addition, Fayette County canceled all extracurricular activities past 5 p.m. Tuesday.
ALL extracurricular activities occurring after 5 p.m. today have been cancelled and are asking After School Program parents to pick their students up by 5 p.m. due to potential winter weather.
A decision about school tomorrow will be made by no later than 8 p.m. today.

Rockdale County Schools only canceled athletic games and competitions Tuesday.
RCPS athletic games/competitions are canceled for Tues, January 16, 2018 & will be rescheduled. And Cobb County Schools canceled all after-school activities Tuesday, but the After School Program will continue as usual. Parents are encouraged to pick up their children as quickly as possible.
